In response to the increasing impacts from both natural and human-induced disasters to cultural heritage around the world in recent years, the online seminar “Lessons Learned from Global Emergencies: Safeguarding Cultural Heritage in Southeast Asia” will be held by SEAMEO SPAFA with full support from UNESCO Heritage Emergency Fund through its Bangkok Office. The seminar aims to provide technical support and share experiences among stakeholders involved in heritage conservation and management including heritage professionals, communities and scholars in relevant fields.
The programme is composed of two parts. It will start with short presentations from invited speakers. They will include practitioners and experts who are experienced in dealing with heritage conservation and management in the time of perils from different parts of the world and from various perspectives ranging from preparedness to emergency response and post-disaster period. The latter part will be a discussion of other experts focusing on what lessons we can learn from these shared experiences and adopt or apply to Southeast Asia.
To wrap up this online seminar, the coming online training on disaster risk management of cultural heritage will be announced.
Stay tuned in the coming weeks for the date, time and registration of this upcoming online seminar!
